Kaeley Pruitt-Hamm

Washington, U.S.

Kaeley Pruitt-Hamm was working in Washington, DC training kids in how to lobby Congress on climate and racial justice issues when a bug bite took her out of commission. She went from doctor to doctor for 10 months after the bite describing pain that spread from the bite in her neck down to her jaw, hands, chest, knees, and ankles but was told by doctors she did not have Lyme due to faulty blood tests. By the time she received correct diagnoses of POTS/dysautonomia, Chronic Fatigue/ME, and late stage Lyme disease, she was bedridden. Now 27, Kaeley is seeing progress in her health because she is able to afford some treatment in Seattle through monthly support of fans of her music on a fundraising site for artists called Patreon. She wrote another song "Believe Her," which features photos of many people with ME in the music video, which you may view on MEAction's site. She will be releasing an EP called "Hi From Pillows" on June 2nd, and she was completely healthy, she would use her pain-free hands and energized body to go on a music tour tour facilitating music and video projects raising awareness about the need for affordable healthcare for all!
